Ep. 128: Silicon Valley Bank, the Balajis bet, price theory, AI | Thomas and Trent

We're only in April, and 2023 is already shaping up to be an exciting year!

This past week we were scheduled to interview a Bitcoin heavyweight on the podcast, but he wound up canceling last minute. 

(Don't worry, we've already rescheduled him for next month.)

Since we were already sitting at our podcasting command stations and ready to go, my cohost Trent and I decided to do a completely off-the-cuff news roundup show. 

The big story this past month has of course been the collapse of the venerable Silicon Valley Bank. Many have wondered whether this presages a wider collapse across the financial sector, akin to the meltdown of 2008.

But we've also been watching coverage of Balajis Srinivan's bet that Bitcoin will hit $1 million in the next 90 days. While Balajis is not always exactly on the mark he does tend to be directionally right, so when he bets big, we pay attention. 

In the course of talking these things over we also covered topics in broader economics, and, as we always do, we spend some time on AI.
